Charlie played a handful of games for CDCC Under 13s and Furze Platt Senior School in his youth but made his senior cricket debut in 2008 in the home game against Hillingdon Manor. He bowled a brilliant spell of swing bowling with figures of 8-0-24-1. Charlie played regularly in the second half of the 2008 season for the Sunday 2nds, impressing with his bowling and taking a stunning catch at home to Eversley.
