Cookham Dean Cricket Club 1st XI v Harefield 2 on Sat 14 May 2011 at 1pm
Match was Drawn
Match report
A solid performance from Cookham Dean 1sts was not enough to force a win over Harefield 2nds, whose stubborn rearguard ended in a draw at Ricketts Field.
The Dean's performance was built around the batting of new boy John Stewart, who carried his bat through their innings for an accomplished 107*in just his second game since joining from North Maidenhead. Tom Bibby continued his fine start to the season with 67, while intermittent support from the middle and lower order enabled the Dean to make an aggressive declaration on 234 for 8 from 50 overs. Evans toiled through 20 overs on a lifeless pitch for Harefield, picking up 1 for 56, while Lee claimed 3 late wickets.
Harefield's openers got off to a flier, but the introduction of Chris Nunn turned the game as he took 4 for 33 from 11 overs either side of a short rain delay. After Sav Gandesha bowled O'Hara fell for 20, Harefield focused entirely on avoiding defeat. Duncan (20) and Morris's (30) long sixth-wicket stand was effective both in frustrating the Dean's bowlers and eroding the interest any spectators may have had in the game.
The batting side's search for bonus points in the last 10 overs gave rise to a late flurry of wickets, but despite a fiery second spell from Justin Rodgie (2 for 39), Harefield clung on to finish on 157 for 8.
