Match report Cookham Dean 2nd XI ended a run of three successive defeats thanks to a crushing win over second bottom side Fleet 2nds. Richard Bibby made a welcome return to form as he shot out the top order with the first five wickets of the innings. Elston (64) provided the main resistance in the middle order before he departed lbw, one of two victims of Arun Brar’s spin. Christian Austin returned to wrap up the tail in no time as the last three batsmen all fell for ducks. Bibby’s final bowling analysis was 18-9-33-5 as Fleet were bowled out for 169.

Dave Brooks and Brar set about their task well. Putting on over 100 for the first wicket before Brar fell for 71. Brooks also passed 50, his seventh in ten innings this season and third in the league, as Cookham cruised towards victory. He finished on 68 not out while Simon D’Ardenne looked steady in securing 19 not out as The Dean picked up a much needed and much deserved victory. Next up for them is a tricky looking home clash against Harefield 3s.
