Match report Cookham Dean 2nd XI managed to beat the rain but were forced to settle for a draw having had the better of their game against Harefield 3s.

The home side batted first and Dave Brooks and Arun Brar continued to establish themselves as one of 5B's most feared opening partnerships as both of them went past 50 in a second successive century opening stand. Brar went for 57 and Brooks 73 which led to a mini-wobble as Simon D'Ardenne (15) and Jake Richardson (16) fell not long after. With the innings in danger of petering out, Jayson McAlpine launched a blistering onslaught against the Harefield bowlers with a rapid 46 not out that included three 6s. This allowed Cookham to score 50 off the final five overs and take them to a very competitive 229 for 6.

Christian Austin and James Taylor made early inroads to the Harefield response with two wickets each. This quickly eliminated any realistic chance for the visitors to push for victory which meant the onus was all on Cookham to take ten wickets. Ogden (24) frustrated the home side for a while before falling to an outstanding caught and bowled by Arun Brar. Some lusty blows from Sreekantayiah helped guide Harefield to some extra bonus points before he fell to a fine catch by Greg Davis off Brar. Austin bowled Gleeson for 36 in the penultimate over but it proved to be too little too late as Harefield ended up 151 for 8.
