Match report An under-par batting performance cost Cookham Dean 2nds any chance of victory at home to Thatcham Town 2s on Saturday afternoon. The Dean batted first but after a bright start by openers Dave Brooks and Arun Brar fell away to some tight bowling by Thatcham Town. Simon D'Ardenne was the only batsman who looked at home striking the ball cleanly on his way to 60. Wickets tumbled regularly at the other end with Christian Austin the only batsman outside of the top 3 to make double figures. Dean were eventually all out 1 short of 6 batting points for 149. Off spinner Bishop was the pick of the bowlers with 4-39

Winfield and Watts looked set to guide their side serenely to victory, making a mockery of the low Cookham total with a partnership of 99. Yet another canny spell from James Taylor removed both batsmen however and a double wicket maiden from Rob Mettler suddenly gave the hosts some hope of claiming an unlikely victory. These hopes were boosted further when Taylor trapped Young lbw for 2. Bird quickly settled the nerves of the visitors though with 23 not out as they eventually claimed a four wicket victory to move to fourth in 5B. Cookham Dean stayed in 7th place.
