NPL Teddington 3 v Cookham Dean Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 14 May 2011 at 1pm
Cookham Dean Cricket Club Lost by 129 runs
Match report
Two outstanding individual displays were enough to see Cookham Dean 3rd XI end up on the receiving end of a 129 run hammering at the hands of NPL Teddington 3rds at the NPL Sports Ground.
NPL won the toss and chose to bat first on a ground with one short straight boundary and a patchy outfield. The openers’ contrasting styles were obvious to see with Wooster offering a more obdurate style whilst Patel attacked anything that was over-pitched outside off-stump. Patel eventually was the first to go for a brutal 124, in a stand of 167 as he fell to the canny off-spin of Magesh Dev. Wooter fell in Dev’s next over for only 19, despite being at the crease for around 30 overs. This sparked something of a collapse as the rest of the NPL line-up showed little aptitude with the bat as they fell to 227 all out with Dev and Dan Matthews picking up four wickets each.
If the NPL middle and lower order showed little aptitude with the bat then the Cookham Dean batting unfortunately followed them up in some style as they slumped to 32-7 in the 11th over , thanks mainly to the outstanding bowling of Shahid. John Gay (25) and Magesh Dev (13) pushed the visitors towards some glimmer of respectability with a partnership of 30 while Paul Taylor launched some lusty blows at number 11 as the Dean were eventually bowled out for 98 with Shahid taking 8 for 27.
