Match report Cookham Dean 3rd XI slipped to their fifth successive defeat in Division 9B as they were on the receiving end of a thrashing by high-flying Hillingdon Manor 3rds. Cookham made early inroads to the London side’s batting line-up, reducing them to 70-4 as John Smith particularly impressed with the new ball with two wickets. This brought Hillingdon skipper Kasiviswanthan and Seymour to the crease who began to take the game away from CDCC. The turning point was an injury to Seymour, who instead of batting with a runner, proceeded to start smashing 6s to all corners of the ground. Seymour made 72 and the captain 67 before they both well victim to an outstanding second spell from Isaac Richardson. He took four wickets to finish with overall figures of 5-42 as Hillingdon declared at 260-8.

Cookham’s batting followed a familiar pattern as they skittled for only 90 in under 30 overs. Captain Jonathan Gay with 25 and Mark Powell with 25 not out were the only ones to make double figures, while four players were dismissed for ducks. Eyre was the pick of the Hillingdon attack with remarkable figures of 7 for 26.
