Match report Cookham Dean 3rd XI picked up their first win since the first day of the season with a three wicket win away to Marlow.

Marlow won the toss and were soon struggling against the pace of Isaac Richardson and the accuracy of Andy Murdoch. Richardson claimed the first wicket of R Yates as he pushed at a ball that popped up to Mike Cutting close to the bat who took a decent one handed catch. Murdoch picked up his first wicket almost immediately after as Marlow skipper, Andy Low, cut a ball straight to Cutting at gully. Cleave (28) and M Yates (21) both looked to up the run rate but both fell in quick succession to Murdoch, either side of a run out by Cutting. Cleave was the first of three catches to Mark Fish, in his return to league cricket. After starring in the field, Cutting was handed the ball and his canny slow medium bowling helped to hoover up the tail as the Marlow batsmen just kept chipping it up in the air, he claimed 3-9 in 5 overs while Murdoch took 4-37 off 16. Richardson finished off the innings as Marlow were bowled out for 107.

As against Burnham, Cookham Dean had a tricky session before tea to bat and as against Burnham, they were strugggling by the break at 23-3. After tea, Darren Davies and Oli Dandridge looked to rebuild but Davies was soon caught down the leg-side off Hassan for 19 while Dandridge was caught at slip for 13 to leave Cookham 39-5. This brought Murdoch to the crease and he looked to hit boundaries from the off, relieving some of the pressure as Cookham closed in on the low total. He shared a partnership of 58 with Matt Wells-Cole (13) in 18 overs to take their side close to the finish line. Wells-Cole eventually was caught behind off Hassan and skipper Jonathan Gay was bowled first ball by O'Toole to bring Marlow back into the game. Cutting joined Murdoch at the crease though with ten still needed to win and they avoided any more scares to finally end Cookham's winless run!
