Eastcote 4 v Cookham Dean Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 23 Jul 2011 at 1pm
Cookham Dean Cricket Club Lost by 144 runs
Match report
Cookham Dean 3rd XI were comprehensively beaten by a very strong Eastcote 4th XI on Saturday afternoon.
Eastcote won the toss and in a change from their usual tactics this season, elected to bat first. Right from the off their batting looked impressive and Cookham didn't make the breakthrough until 80 was on the board as Mans was bowled by Mark Fish. This saw Lotay and Dunn share a breezy stand of 100 before they both fell in the same over. Saleem followed soon after for 4 but J Roan and Hobday batted agressively before taking one risky two too many as Fish ran out Roan with a direct hit. Eastcote eventually declared at 285 for 5 from only 45 overs.
Cookham made a disastrous start as Chris Kellaway and Darren Davies fell in the 2nd over for ducks, to the canny medium pace of Stevens. Jonathan Gay was run out at the non-strikers end off a deflection off the bowler and Cookham were quickly looking at another heavy defeat. Alex Woolley hung around for his 11 for a while and Mark Kirton batted solidly for his 28 before both fell to Stevens. Karthik Raghavan impressed with a quick fire innings of 34 that consisted entirely of boundaries before he too was dismissed by Stevens. The tail put up little resistance with only Mark Anderson making double figures as the leg-spin of J Roan finished the game off quickly. Cookham Dean bowled out for 141.
