Princes Risborough v Cookham Dean Cricket Club Friendly 1st XI on Sun 21 Aug 2011 at 1pm

Match report
Cookham Dean's Sunday 1st XI game petered out into a dull draw at the picturesque Princes Risborough ground. The hosts won the toss and slightly surprisingly, inserted Cookham into bat. Patrick Castleden and Ben Millar, in his first innings since returning from New York, made a watchful start against the accurate seam bowling of I Khan and Hitchcock. Just as Castleden was beginning to get going he got a leading edge to a full toss from Khan that returned safely to the bowler. The run rate accelerated significantly as Jake Richardson joined Millar at the crease. Biguns were being scored galore before Millar fell to a full toss off Scully's first ball that was well held by the youngster Peppin for 70. Richardson fell to Scully for 71 and the innings fell away a bit as new batsmen tried to hit out before the declaration. Mike Cutting (25), Jonathan Gay (16 not out) and Rory Millar (20) all made reasonable contributions as the innings ended on 247-9. Scully's left arm spin picking up 5-46.
Isaac Richardson, in his 100th CDCC appearance, removed King early on but after that it was tough going for the Cookham bowlers as the home side seemed content to bat out for the draw. Mike Cutting, Will Phillips and Patrick Castleden each picked up a wicket while canny spells from Simon D'Ardenne and Jonathan Gay helped see Cookham sail through the last 20 overs rapidly. The game ended in comical fashion as Gay bowled a left arm delivery that was smashed to the fence as Risborough finished on 163-5.
