Cookham Dean Cricket Club Lost by 40 runs

Match report The 2nd XI lost for the first time this season as they lost by 40 runs to a strong British Airways side. After a delayed start with most the side getting lost on the way to B.A’s ground, the home side batted first and lost Khangara and Jirdee early on to the seam of Richard Bibby and Paul Farnborough. The B.A batting lineup was hard-hitting with Khan striking 75 in quick time. The support came from Afzal and Malik as they both struck quick-fire unbeaten half-centuries as they flayed at everything bowled at them. Their innings closed at 271-6 with Andy Pett the pick of the bowlers with 2-29 from 8 overs.
Arun Brar laid the foundation for Cookham’s response with a well-made 46. Unfortunately, he received little support from the rest of the top order, although Graham Wilson and Paul Farnborough both made 20s. Some lusty blows from Maroudas and Freeman (44) gave Cookham a chance of victory and although the lower order provided useful support the visitors were eventually bowled out for 231.
