Match report Cookham Dean Saturday 2nds picked up their first win in four games as they comfortably won by six wickets away to Royal Ascot in their TVL 6A clash. Having won the toss, Ascot got off to a disastrous start as Richard Bibby ripped out their top order with the aid of Ian Frankland bowling at the other end. The home side’s innings was in tatters at 20odd-6 before Coster (57) and Foreman (32) came to the crease and looked to guide their side towards some sort of respectability. Some hard-hitting from Lovett further aided their cause as he hit 43 in quick time before he was caught off the bowling of Mike Cutting (3-40). Royal Ascot were eventually bowled out for 187 in just over 51 overs with Richard Bibby by far the pick of the attack with astonishing figures of 17-7-33-6.
Young openers Rory Millar and Jake Richardson gave their side a solid foundation as they both struck 30s. A mix-up however saw Richardson depart as he was run out and Cookham suffered something of a mini-collapse as Brar soon followed for a duck. Dean skipper Shaun Glover however soon put any doubts to one side as he struck his third 50 of the season in making 61. A defeat for the visitors never looked likely and Pett (25 not out) and Farnborough (14 not out) saw their side home with just over six overs to spare.
