Match report Cookham Dean 2nds lost their first game since July as they slipped to a three wicket defeat away to Teddington Town 2nds at Bushey Park. The game started late after most of the Cookham side were caught up in a traffic jam. Luckily however, captain Shaun Glover was one of only four players to arrive on time and duly won the toss, opting to bat on a decent looking wicket. The late arrival of most of his side meant a promotion up the order for Glover and Andy Pett. They made a solid start to the innings before Pett was run out for 9 after a mix-up. Glover and Rory Millar batted well together before Glover was caught at cover for a well-made 35, Simon D’Ardenne soon followed him back to the pavilion and it was left to Millar and Paul Farnborough to rebuild the innings. Millar departed not long after as he was bowled for 20 and this saw Farnborough begin to dominate the innings as he showed the form that saw him hit a century on the previous Sunday. Mike Cutting (12) hung around with Farnborough for a while but his departure saw a clutter of wickets as Gay, Mettler and Bibby all followed in quick succession. Farnborough continued to hit out but Cookham were eventually bowled out for 194, with Farnborough finishing agonisingly short of his century on 97 not out.
Bibby struck in his first over as he removed Canvin for a duck and Borland had Facer caught behind not long after for four. Wilcox (27) and Patel (43) began to take the game away from the Dean as they began to score their runs at a decent rate with some big-hitting. They both departed in quick succession however which gave the visitors a chance with the score around 100-4. Gaitskill (45) and Capper-Starr (48) soon made the chance of a Cookham victory unlikely as they began to hit out. Millar and Mettler picked up wickets towards the end up ultimately it was too late as the hosts won by 3 wickets with around 8 overs to spare.
