Marlow Park v Cookham Dean Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 23 May 2009 at 13.30
Cookham Dean Cricket Club Won by 74 runs
Match report
Cookham Dean moved into the top three of Thames Valley division 3b with a comprehensive 72 run win over Marlow Park at Higgonson Park on Saturday. However, the day started well for Park when, having opted to bowl first, they reduced Cookham to 15-3, with Mansell Way (2-21)removing Sav Gandesha and George Edlin inside the space of three balls in the 5th over. Clive Lambden looked solid before falling for 25, which brought Jake Richardson (49) to the crease to join Tom Bibby, who was beginning to enjoy the short boundaries and lightning quick outfield. The pair paced their fifth wicket partnership of 98 from 23 overs perfectly, first consolidating and then accelerating to help the visitors reach an above par 236. Bibby in particular batted superbly for a maiden hundred, which included 17 fours and 2 sixes. Mohammed Jawed (4-45), mysteriously kept out of the attack until the 27th over, was comfortably the pick of the bowlers. In reply Pres Patel (5-58) proved far too canny for the Marlow Park top order as Cookham reduced their opponents to 20-4 for the second time this season. Claudio de Rocha rode his luck to make 32, and a degree of middle order resistance was provided by youngsters Joe Kelleher (17), Tom Francis (32) and Harry Cassidy (24*). However, Cookham took the new ball in the 23rd over, and tidy bowling from Nick Borland, Amit Patel (2-20) and Christian Austin (2-1) meant that a 25 point win for the visitors always looked inevitable. Teddington Town make their first ever league visit to Ricketts Field on Saturday.
