Cookham Dean Cricket Club Friendly 2nd XI squad

Friendly 2nd XI
Paul Taylor Member profile

Captain : Paul Taylor

Known as "The Power" Paul turns out for the Saturday 3rds and Sunday 2nds on a regular basis and tends to take the new ball with his lively pace bowling. Can also strike a few lusty blows low down the order. Memorable sixes have been struck at Freith and Penn Street in recent years. Has taken over the captaincy of the Sunday 2nds for 2011.
Jonathan Gay Member profile

Vice Captain : Jonathan Gay

Jonathan is generally a hard-hitting lower/middle order batsman but has been recently found some form as an opener in the 3rds. Leg-break bowler and current 3rd team captain. Also a long term stalwart of the Sunday 2nds and their current vice captain.
Players
George Allard Member profile George Allard
Club captain in 2007 and 2008 and former captain of the Sunday 2nds, George has found his appearances limited in the last couple of seasons. Before this he was a regular run scorer at the top of the order and occasionally would turn his arm over with his canny spin bowling. Also umpires for the Saturday 1sts occasionally.
Tony Cairns Member profile Tony Cairns
A regular fixture behind the stumps for the Sunday 2nds in recent years, TC's often eccentric playing style makes him a popular member of the squad. Often heard making strange sound effects whilst keeping wicket, Tony tends to bat low down the order but has on occasion made decent contributions. Examples of this include 28 against Iver Heath in 2007 and standing firm in a stand of over 60 with Rory Millar against Greys Green in 2008.
John Gay Member profile John Gay
A regular Sunday cricketer since first appearing for the club in 2002 and has played for the 3rds in 2009. A strong hitter to the leg side and obvious lbw candidate, he has had to give up his slow left arm bowling. Club Secretary from 2003-2007 and father of Jonathan Gay.
Chris Kellaway Member profile Chris Kellaway
Opening batsmen who wants to be Michael Vaughan (but is more like Mr.Boycott...), part time wicket keeper and retired swing bowler following "yip" attack at West Wycombe in 2007. Played for the Dean since 1995 and stalwart of Sunday 2nd XI. Captained the Sunday 2nds in 2010.

Dan Matthews Member profile Dan Matthews
A class act when it comes to bowling, with some canny spells of away swing leaving the batmens stumps in tatters. Also bats lower down in the order adding a few runs to the final total!
Ian Mettler Member profile Ian Mettler
Father of Rob Mettler, Ian has made frequent appearances on Sundays in recent years. A reliable right handed batsman and left arm swing bowler, Ian struck 42 in a game against Tuvrville Park early on in the 2008 season.
Rob Mettler Member profile Rob Mettler
Quick bowler and handy batsman who bats anywhere in the order, Rob established himself as a regular in the Saturday 2nd XI in 2008 and 2009. He enjoyed an outstanding end to the 2009 season, claiming his first senior five wicket haul at Hayes. Unfortunately missed the entire of the 2010 league season with injury but will be looking to make 1st XI appearances in 2011.
Aaron O'Donoghue Member profile Aaron O'Donoghue
A former Stokenchurch player who joined the Dean permanently in 2009 after playing some Sundays in 2008.

He bowls at a good pace and can also provide some useful runs down the lower order, making a fine start to his CDCC league career in the 2nd team in partnership with skipper Richard Bibby. He took a remarkable 8-36 to destroy the Aldershot 2s batting lineup in 2009. This spell of bowling led to 2nd XI stalwart Andy Pett calling him "The Terminator!"
Isaac Richardson Member profile Isaac Richardson
Isaac is a medium pace seam bowler who is younger brother of Jake Richardson. Came to the club in 2007 and has made regular appearances for both the Saturday 2's and 3's along with both Sunday teams since. A regular number 11 with the bat, although he thrives on any chances to be promoted up the order. Known for his sometimes humorous but often annoying and irrelevant 'banter' in the field.
Jake Richardson Member profile Jake Richardson
Classy top order batsman who started the 2008 season in fine style with Cookham Dean's first ever Thames Valley League century with 100 against Marlow Park 2s. Brought to the club by Andrew Pett in 2005 and became a consistent run scorer in the 2nds before getting call ups to the 1st team in the early part of the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Has moved in between the 1st and 2nd XIs since but has been appointed 2nd XI Captain for 2011. Can also bowl at a decent pace but is often erratic.
Matt Wells-Cole Member profile Matt Wells-Cole
Joined the club in 2007 and had a slow start. Then in 2008 won the julian cup with the under 13's and now plays under 15's and plays regularly for mens.
Tom Wells-Cole Member profile Tom Wells-Cole
Tom joined the club in 2008 and after doing well on Sundays Tom got a run in the 2nd XI towards the end of the 2009 season. Despite initially struggling for the 2s, two successive centuries for the 3rds in 2010 saw him regain his confidence and he has since established himself at the top of the order for the 2nds and later made his 1st XI debut in 2010. Also scored the first colts century for the u15's against Wargrave.
Alex Woolley Member profile - no photo available Alex Woolley
Alex is another bright young talent who has so far impressed in his first few senior outings for CDCC. He's a left handed top order batsman and can also keep wicket.
