Darts and petanque

Cookham Dean Cricket Club have two darts teams, who both play in the Maidenhead & District Darts League.  All league and cup matches are played on Wednesday evenings throughout the winter, starting at 8.30pm.  During the home matches, the bar is always open, so all club members are invited along to have a drink and watch the darts.  If anyone is interested in playing for either team, you should contact either Mac Judd on 07580 626484 or Graham Cross on 01628 524399.

As most club members will know, petanque is played at CDCC on a piste (playing area) next to the clubhouse. The club team, the Cookham Dean Micros, plays during the summer in the Thames Valley Midweek League with matches taking place on Tuesday evenings and the club also hosts some of the Thames Valley District competitions. The piste is also used by club members for friendly games on a casual basis and equipment is available for use (ask at the bar).

We really want to make the most of this club facility and encourage members, many of whom will probably have watched or even played petanque whilst on holiday, to have a go. As the weather improves next spring we will be holding one or two open evenings when anyone who would like to try out the game can do so.  The piste will also be in use on Friday evenings and colts parents are encouraged to try it out. Petanque is a social and straightforward game, easy to pick up, played by all ages, where no experience is necessary to enjoy it. It is our aim to ensure that the game is fun for all who play.

Due to retirements we are always looking for new players who have found that they enjoy the game to join the club team and participate in matches.  Anyone who is interested or who would like any further information can contact Donald Paton  (Tel: 01628 417453 or donaldfpaton@hotmail.com)
