School year - 3
Segment - participation - Softball
Equipment needed - nothing (some players like to bring their own plastic bats)

Coaching:
4 stations concentrating on 4 different skills - typically:

1). Batting
- Hitting off tees - progressing to drop and bobble feeds
- Learning the "figure 9" shape of the bat and the "toe, knee, chin" position when playing a front foot drive.
- Learn to run between the wickets effectively.

2). Bowling
- Bowling from base but gradually learning art of the bound (if right handed, taking off on the left foot and landing on the right one)
- Following through in straight lines towards the target
Followed by game of target bowling or "golden child".

3). Fielding
- Catches from different angles - hands together but in a wide cup shape - giving with the ball as it is caught.
- Throwing technique - front arm to the target, feet alignment - throw hard!
- Perfect the art of the "long barrier" position.

4). Game / match play
Fun games such a diamond cricket / non-stop cricket.

There are no matches at the under 8 age group but some players will be invited to join our Under 9s in their softball pairs games.
